Design that works harder for your budget.
Construction value engineering, design, cost control and programme management for projects in Devon and Cornwall.
Minimise cost.
Maximise impact.
Engaging Poltair early can potentially save thousands of pounds through careful design and construction engineering. We review how a project is designed and built to reduce unnecessary cost while protecting the quality, function and impact of the finished building.
From materials and specifications to buildability and construction methods, our team works with you and your designers to find practical ways to make your budget go further.
The earlier we are involved, the more opportunity there is to assess alternatives before designs, procurement and site decisions become fixed. The saving depends on the project and the options available.
Discuss value engineering for your projectCost, programme and quality. Planned together.
Cost decisions affect specification and workmanship. Programme decisions affect resources and the sequence of work. We plan these together so the scope, quality standard and delivery milestones are clear before construction begins.
Value includes how a building works, the quality of its design and the experience of the people who use it. Our developer background helps us assess alternatives against the whole brief.
A clear brief. A shared plan.
- Define the scope of work and the deliverables.
- Select the right team for the job.
- Set clear communication, controls and reporting.
- Make responsibilities clear and encourage people to raise concerns.
- Agree milestones and what successful delivery looks like.
Reworking the technical design to unlock a build.
Newquay Methodist Church had planning permission, but the approved design could not be delivered within the construction budget. We reviewed and varied the technical design to reduce build cost while retaining the intended appearance and function.
Poltair undertook this value-engineering work at its own risk to help the client move the project forward. The centre was completed and is now in use.
The town-centre location also required careful planning of deliveries and site health and safety.
Industrial construction, from groundworks to fit-out.
We deliver new industrial units and work on existing facilities, coordinating groundworks, the structure, materials, services and final fit-out around the client’s operational needs.
Structured planning, stakeholder coordination and hands-on site management support agreed timelines and consistent workmanship. Risks and progress are communicated throughout the build.
